Azmin Ali: Excavation caused Ukay Perdana landslide

The "landslide" that occurred at Ukay Perdana in Ampang was an excavation exercise gone wrong. Gombak MP and Bukit Antarabangsa assemblyman Azmin Ali said excavation works were being carried out when the slope gave way around 11am Wednesday and buried four construction workers. Three of the workers were killed.
  • Azmin said a team from the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) had inspected the site on Monday, and found nothing amiss. "It is part of a routine inspection, and they were there to monitor the development of the slope and construction work. "At that time, there were no signs that safety was compromised," he told reporters.
  • Azmin, who rushed to the scene at 1pm, said the residential project, Sierra Ukay, was being developed by IJM."I was told the building structure has not been affected. MPAJ has issued a stop-work order. "I urge the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) to investigate if the developer had adhered to safety guidelines," he said. (Starbiz)
