CIMB Political News - 18 July 2013

Voters in Kuala Besut have been urged to support the Barisan Nasional in the upcoming by-election, warning them that a defeat would jeopardise the prime minister's position. The coalition's Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin said if the PAS candidate won in the July 24 election, the situation would be "uncertain" as a state election could be called to resolve the "hung assembly". He said if the BN lost Terengganu there would be severe consequences. "We don't want to see BN's standing and Datuk Seri Najib Razak's position as the PM, the BN chairmen and Umno president to be threatened because of what happens," Khairy added. (Malaysian Insider)
