SapuraKencana among those invited to bid for Newfield assets worth US$1.7bn

Up to 60 companies have expressed interest in Newfield Exploration Co’s oil and gas (O&G) assets in Malaysia and China, indicating strong interest for the assets which sources said are priced at around US$1.7bn (RM5.3bn). Bidders are now sorting out their funding arrangements for the planned acquisition while some are also looking to team up with other O&G players for joint-bids. So far, SapuraKencana Petroleum is the only company that has publicly declared its interest in Newfield’s assets. Sources said that among the other companies invited to put in their bid was Hibiscus Petroleum. (StarBiz)
